A HIGHER POWER is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created for people who have found recovery through faith in their own personal higher power! We CELEBRATE together and thank our individual Higher Power for giving us the blessed life we live today.
A HIGHER POWER is not here to change anyone's belief system or what one believes in for their personal higher power. We collectively come together to discuss our miracles and not judge others religious or spiritual beliefs.
Many people who struggle with alcoholism / addiction find it helpful to have a higher power in their recovery process. Our philosophy is that A Higher Power is not necessarily a religious concept, but rather a personal belief in something greater than oneself that can guide, support, and inspire each person to change.
All aspects of religions are great for the individual who believes. We know that no one has the exact concept or image of any higher power but your own! He / She / It is the only Higher Power of importance to you.
We are a fellowship of people who share personal stories of how a Higher Power saved them from certain destruction. We listen to people in need. We demonstrate hope. We confidentially provide help to the afflicted, alcoholic*, & addicted. *A Higher Power does not differentiate addiction between types of addictions (for clarity we believe alcoholism is an addiction).*
A Higher Power provides advocacy, education, support, meetings, and public awareness so all individuals and families affected by affliction & addiction can build better lives. By helping people in need...we are also helping ourselves.
At A Higher Power - our mission is simply 3 things:
We share our stories so they can be heard in a broad platform to help those who may be living in similar situations (please see the stories page if you would be so kind to share yours). These stories and conversations also grow Faith - because each and every one of them is a miracle!
We provide hope to those who suffer. We fellowship together and develop close friendships worldwide.
A Higher Power is a place where the Afflicted & Addicted can find help, hope and fellowship. We are not a 12-Step program...but we encourage those who suffer to attend meetings so they can get the specific program needed.
Please join us! There is no fee to be a member.

Through techniques, teachings and open discussions at A Higher Power, we hope to inspire each member to live a happy, purposeful, and meaningful life.
A Higher Power is not a 12-Step Program.
However, many of us have been through 12-Step programs and we do utilize and discuss our experience, strength, and hope we have found in these steps. Our members will encourage the suffering addict/alcoholic into a 12-Step program if it is needed and wanted.
A Higher Power can discuss each individual's particular addiction and help find a proper program of recovery.
We are a fellowship that celebrates our Higher Power which gives us the power to overcome weakness.
Examples of weaknesses we discuss and pray for are selfishness, anger, and addiction. We offer forgiveness, grace, and strength.
By believing in something greater than oneself, people can find hope and comfort in difficult times, and cope with the challenges and uncertainties of life.
We believe in the power of faith and strive to create a community that fosters spiritual growth.
